From the moment we opened our doors in 1984, we have provided educational experiences for schoolchildren, encouraging their curiosity and concern for ocean wildlife. This is a hallmark of the Aquarium mission. Today, more than 80,000 schoolchildren visit us each year—free of charge. The Children's Education Fund will ensure that this continues and supports our:

• Discovery Labs that provide children with interactive experiences and personal encounters with living marine animals.
• Professional development programs for teachers and resources that help them teach marine science and better connect children with the natural world.
• Self guided and volunteer lead tours and learning opportunities that are based on closer study of our exhibits and animals.
